Changes to Cebu South Tour: Tumalog Falls Removed, Mantayupan Falls Added
The Tumalog Falls course, which was included in the Oslob Whale Shark Watching Tour offered by Cebu Hopping Tour, has been removed and replaced with the Mantayupan Falls course.
On March 17th, Tumalog Falls was closed, and we had been visiting Mantayupan Falls instead while waiting for Tumalog Falls to reopen.
We had anticipated that Tumalog Falls would be accessible again once the dry season ended and the rainy season began.
However, the condition of Tumalog Falls is severe.
Despite our continuous efforts to gather information about Tumalog Falls since then, it seems unlikely that it will reopen anytime soon.
Therefore, we have officially added Mantayupan Falls as a regular course.
The following tour products are affected by this change:
- Cebu Oslob Whale Shark Watching Tour
- Cebu Oslob Whale Shark and Moalboal Tour
- Cebu Oslob Whale Shark and Sumilon Island Tour
In the descriptions of these products, Tumalog Falls has been removed and Mantayupan Falls has been added.
The most plausible explanation for the drying up of Tumalog Falls is not drought but the suspected occurrence of a sinkhole somewhere upstream.
It is speculated that this sinkhole was caused by Super Typhoon Rai in 2021.
As many locals depend on Tumalog Falls for their livelihood, a prompt investigation will be conducted, but finding a solution is expected to be challenging.
We will post any new information about Tumalog Falls if it becomes available.
Please note that Tumalog Falls will no longer be visited in the future.
